Abstract

Health systems form a complex structure whose understanding and modeling involve multiple factors and their relationships. Brazil's demographic diversity makes Health Management an even more challenging scenario. On the other hand, overcoming them can produce significant advances for Health in Brazil and worldwide. Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods have generated significant discoveries with socioeconomic impact for several complex problems. This Center proposal seeks to catalyze the knowledge of excellence groups at USP and other research institutions in the state of SP to develop advanced AI methods capable of overcoming such challenges. To achieve this, the Center's projects must innovate on the main fronts of AI research, such as Deep Learning (Graph Neural Networks, Large Language Models, and Diffusion Models), Interpretable Structural and Causal Models, and Multi-Criteria decision-making, to deal with multiple data modalities, with the demand for system interoperability and unstructured health data, seeking to improve efficiency, cost-benefit and quality of health services, for micro- and macro-management (public hospitals, private and health institutions) generating consistent and interpretable models that enable reliable decision making.
